Pasta Kitchen launched in 2016 with a straightforward aim: stock the tools that actually make a difference when you're cooking Italian food at home. We're a family-run business, and Italian cooking tools are genuinely what we know. We've been selling Marcato pasta machines and Eppicotispai tools the entire time, and every product we add to the range gets used and tested by our team at home before it goes on the site.
The range has grown a lot since then, but the approach hasn't. We choose products we believe in, from brands that have been making them properly for decades. Almost everything we sell is made in Italy. Marcato pasta machines are manufactured in Campodarsego, near Padova. Berkel slicers and knives are made in Italy, in the province of Varese. Cerutti Inox and Eppicotispai are Italian-made brands we've carried for years.
We're an authorised UK retailer for the brands we carry. Everything is supplied with UK-compatible plugs where applicable, VAT is included in the price, and there are no import duties or customs surprises on delivery.* You may be able to find some of these products cheaper from overseas sellers, but what you won't get is UK warranty support, correct specifications for the UK market, or anyone to call if something goes wrong.

A two-faced meat tenderiser with a smooth side for flattening and a spiked side for tenderising. The smooth face pounds chicken breasts, veal escalopes and pork steaks to an even thickness for faster, more consistent cooking. The spiked face breaks down the fibres in tougher cuts, improving texture and reducing cooking time. Made in Italy by Eppicotispai, with a beechwood handle and aluminium striking plates.
The mallet is 30cm long with a beechwood handle and head, and aluminium striking plates on both faces. The two-face design means one tool handles both jobs: flattening for scaloppine and schnitzel-style dishes, and tenderising for tougher cuts that benefit from fibre breakdown before cooking.
The smooth face is used for pounding meat to an even thickness, the standard preparation for dishes like chicken milanese, veal piccata, pork saltimbocca, and beef carpaccio. Even thickness means the meat cooks at the same rate across the whole piece, avoiding dry edges and undercooked centres. The spiked face is used on tougher cuts where breaking down the muscle fibres before cooking improves the final texture. Braising cuts, flank steak, and chicken thighs all benefit from a few passes with the spiked face before marinating or cooking.
The combination of beechwood and aluminium gives a well-balanced mallet that is heavy enough to work effectively without being tiring to use. The aluminium plates are durable and easy to clean, and the beechwood handle gives a secure grip during use.

The smooth face flattens and pounds meat to an even thickness, used for dishes where a thin, uniform piece of meat is needed. The spiked face breaks down muscle fibres in tougher cuts to improve tenderness and reduce cooking time.
The smooth face suits chicken breast, veal, pork loin, and any cut that needs flattening. The spiked face suits tougher cuts including flank steak, chicken thighs, and braising cuts where fibre breakdown before cooking improves the texture.
No. Hand wash only. Rinse quickly, dry immediately, and store in a dry place. Prolonged exposure to moisture will damage the beechwood over time.
