Most wine stoppers create a seal. The AntiOx goes further: a patented active carbon filter inside the stopper neutralises the volatile compounds that drive oxidation, so the oxygen remaining in the bottle can't react with the wine. The result is that an opened bottle stored upright stays close to its original character for over seven days, without the vinegary off-notes that develop when wine is simply recorked.
"Recommended by the Spanish and Italian Sommelier Associations."
When you close the bottle, the filter inside the AntiOx absorbs the volatile compounds responsible for accelerating oxidation. Oxygen is still present in the bottle, but without those compounds it can no longer react with the wine or produce acetic acid. The stopper doesn't need charging, replacing, or pumping. You just close the bottle.
The filter is rated for 1,000 uses or five years of operation, whichever comes first. For most home wine drinkers that covers years of regular use. The filter is not replaceable, but the stopper itself is designed to last rather than be a consumable.
The AntiOx keeps wine fresh for over a week when the bottle is stored upright. That covers the typical gap between opening a bottle mid-week and finishing it at the weekend, without any noticeable deterioration in flavour or aroma.
Vacuum pump systems remove some oxygen but leave the rest to work on the wine. The AntiOx doesn't remove oxygen; it prevents it from reacting with the wine at all, which is a more complete approach to preservation. Pulltex has been designing wine service accessories for over 20 years and the AntiOx is one of their most recognised products. See the full Pulltex range at Pasta Kitchen, including the Delos crystal decanter set and the Pulltex wine accessories set.
Vacuum stoppers reduce the amount of oxygen in the bottle but can't remove it entirely, so oxidation continues at a slower rate. The AntiOx uses an active carbon filter to neutralise the compounds that allow oxygen to react with the wine, interrupting the oxidation process rather than just slowing it down.
Pulltex rates it at over one week when the bottle is stored upright. Keep the bottle vertical to get the best results from the filter.
It fits standard 750ml wine bottle necks. It is designed for still wine; Pulltex make a separate AntiOx stopper for sparkling wine and champagne.
The active carbon filter is rated for 1,000 uses or five years, whichever comes first. The filter is built in and cannot be replaced, but the stopper is designed to last well beyond occasional home use.
No. Press it into the bottle neck and the filter activates immediately. There's no pumping, no gas cartridges, and nothing to prepare before use.
