An independent UK specialist for Italian-made pasta and pizza tools, kitchen equipment and more.

Pasta Kitchen launched in 2016 with a straightforward aim: stock the tools that actually make a difference when you're cooking Italian food at home. We're a family-run business, and Italian cooking tools are genuinely what we know. We've been selling Marcato pasta machines and Eppicotispai tools the entire time, and every product we add to the range gets used and tested by our team at home before it goes on the site.

The range has grown a lot since then, but the approach hasn't. We choose products we believe in, from brands that have been making them properly for decades. Almost everything we sell is made in Italy. Marcato pasta machines are manufactured in Campodarsego, near Padova. Berkel slicers and knives are made in Italy, in the province of Varese. Cerutti Inox and Eppicotispai are Italian-made brands we've carried for years.

We're an authorised UK retailer for the brands we carry. Everything is supplied with UK-compatible plugs where applicable, VAT is included in the price, and there are no import duties or customs surprises on delivery.* You may be able to find some of these products cheaper from overseas sellers, but what you won't get is UK warranty support, correct specifications for the UK market, or anyone to call if something goes wrong.

Berkel's Classic Line Paring Knife has a 7.5cm stainless steel blade built for the close-control work that longer knives can't do well: peeling, trimming, hulling, segmenting citrus, or carving small vegetables. At 75g and 18cm overall, it sits comfortably in the hand without fatigue. The blade is X50 CrMoV15 stainless steel with a polished welded bolster, paired with a glossy red ABS handle finished with three rivets and a mirror polish.

The Classic Line

Classic Line knives are built around a single-piece polished weld construction that eliminates the joint between blade and handle, the area most prone to harbouring bacteria and structural weakness. The steel is X50 CrMoV15, a high-carbon stainless alloy widely used in professional kitchen knives for its balance of edge retention and corrosion resistance. Handles are gloss red ABS with mirror finish and three-rivet fixing. Each knife ships in an FSC-certified gift box with foldable cardboard interior.

What steel is used in the Classic Line Paring Knife?
The blade is made from X50 CrMoV15 stainless steel, a high-carbon chromium-molybdenum-vanadium alloy widely used in professional kitchen knives. It offers good edge retention, corrosion resistance, and is straightforward to resharpen at home with a whetstone or honing rod.
What is the blade length, and what tasks is it suited to?
The blade is 7.5cm, which puts it in the standard paring knife range. It's well suited to peeling, trimming, hulling, segmenting citrus, and any task where you need the knife close to your fingers for fine control. It's not designed for chopping or slicing larger produce.
What does X50 CrMoV15 mean?
X50 CrMoV15 is a stainless steel grade commonly used in knife blades. The X50 indicates roughly 0.5% carbon, which influences hardness and edge retention. CrMoV refers to chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium, elements that enhance corrosion resistance, strength, and durability. The 15 denotes approximately 15% chromium, giving the steel its strong resistance to rust and staining. It's a well-balanced alloy that offers a practical mix of sharpness, durability, and ease of maintenance, which is why it's widely used in quality kitchen knives.
How should I care for the Classic Line Paring Knife?
Hand wash in warm water and dry the blade immediately after use. Dishwashers can blunt the edge and damage the handle finish over time. Avoid abrasive sponges. Store on a magnetic strip or in a knife block rather than loose in a drawer.
Do I need to verify my age to buy this knife?

Diminished Value and Use of Goods

  • Under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, handling beyond what is necessary to inspect an item may result in a deduction from your refund
  • This includes use of food preparation equipment with ingredients such as flour, dough, or egg
  • Items used in this way cannot be resold as new and may be subject to a reduced refund
  • Any deduction will be based on the condition of the item following inspection

Berkel Manufacturer’s Warranty

Warranty Coverage

Berkel products sold by pasta.kitchen are supplied with a manufacturer’s warranty, provided in addition to your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

Warranty period begins from the date of purchase and applies when products are used correctly and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Berkel food slicers: 24 months
  • All other Berkel products: 12 months

What Is Covered

The manufacturer’s warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal domestic use.

If a valid claim is confirmed, the manufacturer will provide an appropriate remedy, which may include:

  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Alternative resolution in line with applicable consumer protection regulations

What Is Not Covered

The warranty does not cover:

  • Damage after delivery (transport, mishandling, incorrect setup)
  • Misuse, negligence, or use outside manufacturer guidance
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Consumable components (e.g. blades, sharpening wheels), unless there is a manufacturing defect
  • Voltage fluctuations exceeding 10% of nominal value
  • Unauthorised repairs or modifications
