Berkel has been making flywheel slicers since 1898. The current Volano range covers six machines, all chain-driven, with 100Cr6 chrome steel blades, a built-in sharpener and the same hand-powered concave cutting mechanism. Turning the flywheel by hand is a different experience to switching on a motor: you feel the resistance of the cut and set the pace yourself, slice by slice. The differences between models come down to size, intended use, and how much the design of the machine matters to you. You'll find the full range of Berkel slicers, flywheel and electric, in our main slicer collection.
