The Silictaps uses the same double-lever extraction mechanism as the rest of the Pulltex waiter's corkscrew range, the system that lets you pull a cork in two controlled vertical steps without breaking or fragmenting it. The difference from the Pulltap Button Lever is the handle: the Silictaps has a silicone insert rather than a rigid ergonomic grip, which gives it a softer feel and a slightly more secure hold during extraction. It's the model most commonly found in catering and professional wine service. Stock is limited to the three colours shown and will not be replenished.
The retractable double lever extracts corks in two steps, keeping the pull vertical throughout. This is the mechanism that made Pulltex's waiter's corkscrews the standard choice in professional settings, and it handles natural, synthetic, and long corks without issue.
The silicone insert gives the handle a softer grip than a standard rigid waiter's corkscrew. In practice this matters most during repeated use, where a hard handle becomes uncomfortable. It also gives you a more secure hold when the cork is particularly resistant.
The Teflon coating on the spiral reduces friction on entry into the cork, which cuts the risk of tearing. The nickel-plated lever is durable and resistant to corrosion, which matters in a tool that regularly comes into contact with wine and moisture.
If you want the Pulltex double-lever mechanism in a softer, more comfortable handle format, the Silictaps is the right choice. It's the version most used by catering professionals who open bottles repeatedly, where handle comfort becomes a practical consideration rather than a minor detail. For a rigid ergonomic handle with a button-lever release, the Pulltap Button Lever is the alternative.

Both use the same Pulltex double-lever extraction mechanism. The Silictaps has a silicone insert handle for a softer grip, while the Pulltap Button Lever has a rigid ergonomic handle with a button-release lever. The extraction performance is the same; the choice comes down to handle preference.
The Silictaps is currently available in black, green, and red. Stock is limited and will not be restocked, so availability may change. Colour can be selected at checkout.
Yes. The Silictaps is the Pulltex model most commonly used in catering and restaurant settings. The silicone handle and double-lever mechanism are both designed to hold up under repeated daily use.
Yes. The double-lever mechanism and Teflon-coated spiral handle natural, synthetic, and long corks. Vertical extraction is particularly useful with synthetic corks, which tend to grip the bottle neck more tightly.
No. The spiral is designed for right-handed use. Pulltex make a dedicated left-handed version with an inverted spiral, but that model is not currently stocked at Pasta Kitchen.
