The Eppicotispai hand grater has a flat stainless steel grating surface and a folding tray that props the grater at an angle during use, catching everything grated below. When you're done, the tray closes over the grating surface to protect it in storage. All stainless steel, no plastic. Made in Italy.
The tray is the reason to choose this over a standard flat grater. It props the grater at a working angle so both hands are free (one to hold the food, one to guide it) and collects the grated result as you go. No bowl underneath, no loose grating surface sliding on the worktop. When the tray closes, it covers the grating teeth so the grater can go straight into a drawer without needing a separate cover.
The grating surface suits hard and semi-hard cheeses, citrus zest and hard chocolate. It's well sized for grating Parmesan directly over pasta at the table or preparing zest into a bowl before cooking. The loop handle gives enough grip to work confidently without the grater shifting.
Eppicotispai manufacture kitchenware near Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. This grater follows the same pattern as the rest of their range: stainless steel throughout, no mixed materials, nothing to crack or degrade with regular use.
A flat grater without a tray requires a bowl underneath or a steady hand to stop it sliding. This one solves both problems with a folding tray built into the design. It's more compact than a box grater, easier to store than a flat rasp, and the all-stainless construction means nothing wears out ahead of the grater itself.

The tray folds out to hold the grater at an angle on the worktop, so you can grate with two hands rather than holding the grater steady with one. It collects everything below as you work. Folded shut, it sits flat over the grating surface and protects the teeth in a drawer or cupboard.
Yes. The all-stainless construction means both the grater and tray can go in the dishwasher without warping or degrading. Rinsing promptly after use, particularly after citrus zest or cheese, makes cleaning easier regardless.
A box grater has four surfaces and collects food inside its body, which suits larger quantities. This grater has a single surface and is more compact, easier to store and better suited to smaller amounts grated directly over a dish or into the tray. If you regularly grate large quantities, the 4-side box grater is the more practical choice.
Yes. The grating surface works well for lemon, orange and lime zest. Press lightly and rotate the fruit, which helps keep the zest clear of the bitter white pith below the skin.
From the image it appears to be a medium-fine surface, suited to hard cheese and zesting rather than coarse shredding. If you need a specific hole size confirmed, feel free to get in touch before ordering.
