About Us

An independent UK specialist for Italian-made pasta and pizza tools, kitchen equipment and more.

Pasta Kitchen launched in 2016 with a straightforward aim: stock the tools that actually make a difference when you're cooking Italian food at home. We're a family-run business, and Italian cooking tools are genuinely what we know. We've been selling Marcato pasta machines and Eppicotispai tools the entire time, and every product we add to the range gets used and tested by our team at home before it goes on the site.

The range has grown a lot since then, but the approach hasn't. We choose products we believe in, from brands that have been making them properly for decades. Almost everything we sell is made in Italy. Marcato pasta machines are manufactured in Campodarsego, near Padova. Berkel slicers and knives are made in Italy, in the province of Varese. Cerutti Inox and Eppicotispai are Italian-made brands we've carried for years.

We're an authorised UK retailer for the brands we carry. Everything is supplied with UK-compatible plugs where applicable, VAT is included in the price, and there are no import duties or customs surprises on delivery.* You may be able to find some of these products cheaper from overseas sellers, but what you won't get is UK warranty support, correct specifications for the UK market, or anyone to call if something goes wrong.

The Gemini Express is an Italian stovetop moka pot with a design first produced in the 1960s and still made in Italy by Eppicotispai. It brews directly into the cups: place one or two espresso cups on the base, set the pot on the hob, and the coffee fills the cups as it brews. No pouring, no upper chamber, no heat lost in transfer. This version is suitable for gas, ceramic and electric hobs and is not compatible with induction.

How It Brews

The Gemini Express works differently from a standard moka pot. Rather than collecting coffee in an upper chamber for pouring, it dispenses directly into the cups on its base. The boiler heats the water, which passes up through the coffee funnel and down into the cups below. The included reducer filter fits inside the funnel and changes the brew depending on how you use it.

  • 2 cups standard: fill the boiler and funnel with coarse ground coffee
  • 1 cup strong: insert the reducer filter and fill the boiler halfway
  • 2 cups lighter: insert the reducer filter and fill the boiler fully
  • Use coarse ground coffee only. Do not use fine ground or filter coffee
  • Maximum cup height: 5.5 cm

Hob Compatibility

This version works on gas, ceramic and electric hobs. It is not suitable for induction. If you have an induction hob, the induction-compatible version is available.

  • Compatible with gas, ceramic and electric hobs
  • Not suitable for induction hobs
  • On gas, use a low flame for best results

Construction and Dimensions

Made from food-safe aluminium in Italy. Clean with sodium bicarbonate or vinegar in water. Do not use detergents. Discard the first few brews when using a new pot to season it before regular use.

  • Material: food-safe aluminium
  • Dimensions: 12.7 cm wide x 17 cm tall
  • Maximum cup height: 5.5 cm
  • Clean with bicarbonate of soda or vinegar, not detergent
  • Made in Italy by Eppicotispai

What's in the Box

The Gemini Express moka pot and reducer filter. Espresso cups are not included. The Gemini Express porcelain cup and saucer is available separately, or as part of the Special Edition set which includes two cups and saucers in a gift presentation box.

  • 1x Gemini Express moka pot
  • 1x reducer filter
  • Espresso cups not included

Why Choose the Gemini Express

Most stovetop moka pots pour into a jug or directly from a spout, which means handling a hot pot over a cup. The Gemini Express keeps the cups on the base throughout, so brewing and serving happen in one step. Three brew modes give you control over strength and quantity from the same pot. Made in Italy since the 1960s, and if you don't need induction compatibility, this is the more straightforward buy.

Does this work on induction hobs?

No. This version is for gas, ceramic and electric hobs only. The induction-compatible version is available if you need it.

Are espresso cups included?

No. The pot comes with the reducer filter only. The matching porcelain cup and saucer is sold separately, or you can buy the Special Edition set which includes two cups and saucers.

What does the reducer filter do?

The reducer filter fits inside the coffee funnel and gives you two additional brew options. With the reducer in place and the boiler filled halfway, you get one strong cup. With the reducer in place and the boiler filled fully, you get two cups of lighter coffee. Without the reducer and with the boiler filled fully, you get two standard cups.

What grind should I use?

Coarse ground coffee only. Do not use fine ground coffee or any coffee designed for filter machines or electric espresso makers.

How do I clean and season the pot?

Clean with bicarbonate of soda or vinegar in water. Do not use washing-up liquid or detergent, as this affects the flavour of subsequent brews. When using the pot for the first time, discard the first few brews before drinking. This seasons the aluminium and removes any initial taste from the new metal.
