Mutti Double Concentrate is a double-concentrated tomato paste made from just tomatoes and salt, in a 440g can from Mutti of Parma, a family tomato company since 1899. It takes about 5.5kg of fresh tomatoes to make 1kg of paste, which is why a spoonful adds so much colour and flavour to a dish.
What It Is For
Ragù, bolognese, stews and any slow-cooked sauce that needs more tomato flavour, colour and body. It holds up to long cooking, and a spoonful stirred into a sauce built on canned tomatoes intensifies the flavour.
Which Tomato to Choose
Each tomato does a different job: one is a sauce base for pizza and pasta, one is a brighter and tangier option, and one is a paste that adds depth.
The can is also sold as a tray of 12.
