The Eppicotispai solid beechwood rolling pin is made in Italy in six lengths from 29cm to 70cm, for rolling pasta, pastry, bread, pizza and biscuit dough. It has one fixed barrel with a handle at each end and no moving parts. For a straight cylinder with no handles, the 34cm natural beechwood cylindrical rolling pin is the alternative.

Choosing a Length

The overall length includes the handles, so the usable length is the figure to set against your dough. A pin shorter than the dough means rolling it in sections.

Overall length Usable length Diameter Suits
29cm 20.5cm 3cm Small batches, narrow sheets
32cm 23.5cm 4.2cm Small batches, narrow sheets
40cm 29cm 4.2cm Everyday rolling
50cm 36cm 4.2cm Everyday rolling
60cm 48.5cm 4.2cm Wide sheets of dough
70cm 57cm 4.2cm Wide sheets of dough

Who It Suits

Home cooks who want a pin matched to the job, and anyone rolling wide sheets of dough. The fixed barrel suits cooks who prefer no moving parts.

Solid, Revolving and Cylindrical Pins Compared

The three beechwood pins differ in barrel design and in how much of the length touches the dough.

Solid (this pin) Revolving Cylindrical
Barrel Fixed Turns under the hands Fixed
Handles Yes, one each end Yes None
Lengths 29cm to 70cm 40, 50 and 60cm 34cm
Diameter 4.2cm (3cm on the 29cm) 4.7cm 4.3cm
Usable length 36cm at 50cm, 48.5cm at 60cm 33cm at 50cm, 40.5cm at 60cm 33cm of 34cm

The revolving beechwood rolling pin and the 34cm natural beechwood cylindrical rolling pin each have their own pages.

FAQs

What length beechwood rolling pin do I need for pasta?
The best fit is a pin whose usable length is longer than the dough is wide, so it rolls the whole sheet in one go. The usable lengths run from 20.5cm on the 29cm pin to 57cm on the 70cm pin.
Does the stated length include the handles?
Yes. Every overall length we list includes the handles, and the usable rolling length is shorter. The 50cm pin, for example, has 36cm of usable length.
Why is the 29cm rolling pin thinner than the others?
The 29cm pin has a 3cm diameter, where the other five lengths are 4.2cm. The 32cm pin is the shortest one with the larger diameter.
What is the difference between this pin and the 34cm cylindrical rolling pin?
This pin has a handle at each end, while the 34cm cylindrical pin is a straight 4.3cm cylinder with 33cm of its length usable. Handles take up some length, so the 40cm pin here has 29cm usable.
Can I use a beechwood rolling pin for pizza dough?
Yes. This pin is suitable for pasta, pastry, bread, biscuit and pizza dough.
Is a beechwood rolling pin dishwasher safe?
No. Wash it by hand and do not leave it in water. A wooden rolling pin should never go in the dishwasher.
