EU Customs & Duties (Post-Brexit)

Do EU customers have to pay customs duties?

Yes. Since Brexit, the UK is no longer part of the EU customs union. All orders shipped to EU countries are subject to import VAT and may incur customs duties depending on the value and type of goods.

How much will customs charges be?

Customs charges vary by country and are calculated based on:

• The declared value of your order
• Your country's import VAT rate (typically 19-25%)
• Any applicable customs duties on kitchen products
• Handling fees charged by the carrier or customs authority

As a guide, expect to pay approximately 20-25% of your order value in import VAT, plus any applicable duties. We recommend checking with your local customs authority for specific rates.

Will I be contacted about customs charges?

Yes. The delivery carrier (Royal Mail, FedEx, or local postal service) will contact you before delivery to arrange payment of any customs duties and import VAT. You may receive an email, SMS, or letter with payment instructions.

Can you mark items as gifts to avoid customs?

No. We cannot mark commercial orders as gifts or falsify customs declarations. This is illegal and could result in your parcel being seized, fines, or criminal prosecution. All orders are declared accurately with their true commercial value.

Are customs duties refundable?

No. Customs duties and import VAT are charged by your government, not by us. These charges are non-refundable and are the responsibility of the recipient. If you refuse delivery due to customs charges, you will be responsible for return shipping costs and any customs fees incurred.

What are the shipping costs to EU countries?

Shipping costs to the EU are calculated at checkout based on your destination and order weight. Our EU shipping zones are:

Europe Zone 1 (Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Monaco, Denmark):
Standard tracked delivery, typically 5-10 business days

Europe Zone 2 (Italy):
Standard tracked delivery, typically 6-12 business days

Europe Zone 3 (Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic, and others):
Standard tracked delivery, typically 7-14 business days

Europe Zone 4 (Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia, Georgia):
Standard tracked delivery, typically 10-18 business days

Europe Zone 5 (Greece, Iceland, Ukraine, Moldova, Greenland, Azores):
Standard tracked delivery, typically 12-21 business days

Europe Zone 6 (Andorra, Gibraltar, Malta, Vatican City):
Standard tracked delivery, typically 10-18 business days

Note: Delivery times are estimates and do not include customs clearance time, which can add 3-10 business days.

Which countries do you ship to?

We ship to all EU countries, plus Switzerland, Norway, and most European destinations. We also ship worldwide to the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. If your country isn't listed at checkout, please contact us for a shipping quote.

UK & Channel Islands Shipping

Do UK customers pay customs duties?

No. Orders shipped within the UK (England, Scotland, Wales) are domestic deliveries with no customs charges. See our Delivery Policy for UK shipping rates and options.

What about Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Guernsey, and Jersey?

These destinations have special shipping arrangements:

• Northern Ireland: Special rates apply (£12.50-£20 depending on weight). No customs duties under the Northern Ireland Protocol.
• Isle of Man, Guernsey, Jersey: Included in our UK shipping zone. No customs duties.

Do you ship to the USA, Canada, Australia?

Yes! We ship worldwide. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on destination and weight.

USA: Standard international shipping, 10-21 business days. Customs duties may apply on orders over $800 USD. Please note: Marcato brand products are NOT available for sale to USA customers.

Canada: Standard international shipping, 10-21 business days. Customs duties and GST/HST may apply.

Australia & New Zealand: Standard international shipping, 12-25 business days. Customs duties and GST may apply on orders over AUD/NZD $1,000.

Important: Customs duties and import taxes are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in our shipping prices.
