About Us

An independent UK specialist for Italian-made pasta and pizza tools, kitchen equipment and more.

Pasta Kitchen launched in 2016 with a straightforward aim: stock the tools that actually make a difference when you're cooking Italian food at home. We're a family-run business, and Italian cooking tools are genuinely what we know. We've been selling Marcato pasta machines and Eppicotispai tools the entire time, and every product we add to the range gets used and tested by our team at home before it goes on the site.

The range has grown a lot since then, but the approach hasn't. We choose products we believe in, from brands that have been making them properly for decades. Almost everything we sell is made in Italy. Marcato pasta machines are manufactured in Campodarsego, near Padova. Berkel slicers and knives are made in Italy, in the province of Varese. Cerutti Inox and Eppicotispai are Italian-made brands we've carried for years.

We're an authorised UK retailer for the brands we carry. Everything is supplied with UK-compatible plugs where applicable, VAT is included in the price, and there are no import duties or customs surprises on delivery.* You may be able to find some of these products cheaper from overseas sellers, but what you won't get is UK warranty support, correct specifications for the UK market, or anyone to call if something goes wrong.

A launching peel for putting raw pizza into the oven. The square perforated blade is aluminised sheet metal on an untreated aluminium handle, and it launches pizza the same way the rest of the Cerutti range does; the difference is the surface finish, not the shape or the way it works. Blades of 33cm and 36cm, handles of 30cm and 60cm. Made in Italy.

What This Peel Offers

  • Square blade: carries more dough than a round blade of the same width, useful for wet dough or a base that runs big
  • Perforated blade: loose flour and semolina drop through before they burn onto the stone, and the base releases cleanly instead of sticking
  • Aluminised sheet metal and untreated aluminium handle: resist heat and corrosion, though the surface dulls and picks up marks with use where an anodised finish would not
  • Two blade sizes and two handle lengths, at around a quarter of the price of the Tulip

Blade Sizes

The blade wants to be slightly bigger than the pizza it carries, so the base sits fully supported with a little margin around it.

  • 33cm handles pizzas up to 12 inches, which covers most home pizza ovens
  • 36cm handles pizzas up to 14 inches, for larger garden ovens

Blade width matters as much as pizza size: worth checking against the opening of the oven before ordering, since even the right blade for the pizza can be too wide for a compact oven's mouth. The 33cm here does not fit the ZiiPa Piana, and a 33cm blade is also too wide for a Gozney Roccbox or Arc Lite; see the FAQs below for oven-by-oven fit.

Handle Lengths

Handle length is decided by the oven rather than the pizza.

  • 30cm suits small countertop ovens including the Ooni Koda 12 and Volt 12
  • 60cm suits bigger garden ovens, where the stone sits further back

What is the difference between the Cerutti Smart and Tulip pizza peels?
The finish. The Smart blade is aluminised sheet metal on an untreated aluminium handle; the Tulip is anodised aluminium with a red anodised handle. Both are perforated, both are made in Italy and both launch a pizza the same way. The anodised surface on the Tulip resists scratching and staining, so it still looks new after years, and the Tulip comes in more sizes and handle lengths. The Smart costs considerably less.
What size pizza peel do I need?
The blade wants to be slightly larger than the pizza you make most often, so the base sits fully supported with a small margin. The 33cm square blade covers pizzas up to 12 inches, which suits most home pizza ovens. The 36cm takes you to 14 inches for larger garden ovens.
Which handle length fits an Ooni or Gozney oven?
The 30cm. It is sized for compact countertop ovens with a shallow chamber, including the Ooni Koda 12, Gozney Roccbox and ZiiPa Piana. The 60cm suits a larger garden oven where the stone sits further back, and becomes awkward to handle in a small outdoor space.
Why is the Smart pizza peel square rather than round?
A square blade carries more dough than a round one of the same width, because the corners hold what a curve cuts away. That helps with wet dough, which sags as it is carried, and with a base that has spread wider than planned. It is also the shape most pizzerias launch with. For round pizzas and a blade that matches them, the round Tulip peel is the alternative.
How do you clean a Cerutti Smart pizza peel?
Hand washing in warm soapy water and drying is all it needs. It is not dishwasher suitable and at 63cm to 93cm long would not fit one. The blade is untreated, so drying it properly matters more than it does on an anodised peel. Brushing loose flour out of the perforations after each session keeps it working properly.
Do I need a turning peel as well as a pizza peel?
If you cook above 350 degrees, yes. A launching peel is too large to manoeuvre inside a hot oven without catching the rim, and at those temperatures a pizza needs turning two or three times inside ninety seconds. The peel launches, a pizza turning peel rotates and retrieves. Most people who cook pizza regularly own both.
Will this peel fit the ZiiPa Piana?
No. The Piana's cordierite stone and oven opening are sized for a blade of around 31cm or under, and every Cerutti Inox peel starts at 33cm. For Piana compatibility, the ZiiPa Aquila is the fit, at 30.5cm.
Will this peel fit my Ooni or Gozney oven?
It depends on the blade size and the oven's opening. The 33cm blade fits an Ooni Koda 12 or Volt 12 (opening around 33.7cm) and an Ooni Karu 12 (around 36.8cm), but is too wide for a Gozney Roccbox (around 30.2cm) or Arc Lite (around 32.5cm). The 36cm blade fits a Karu 12 or a Gozney Dome (around 41.1cm), but not a Koda 12, Volt 12 or Roccbox. Figures are the ovens' published opening widths, so worth checking against your own model before ordering.
