The Berkel Cheeseboard Set pairs a solid acacia wood board with three Classic Line cheese knives, each shaped for a different type of cheese. Hard, semi-hard and soft cheeses all behave differently under a blade, and having the right knife for each makes a noticeable difference at the table. Most sets compromise on either the board or the knives. This one doesn't.
Acacia is naturally moisture-resistant, antibacterial and harder-wearing than many woods used for serving boards, without any surface treatment needed. At 33.5 × 25 cm (including the handle), it gives you a proper surface to work with rather than something you're crowding food onto. The round board itself is 25 cm across. Berkel's logo is silk screen printed onto the surface.
The hard cheese knife has a short, thick, pointed 8 cm blade for breaking into aged cheeses without shattering them. The semi-hard knife has an 11.5 cm blade with a forked tip for clean cuts through Comté, Gouda, mild Cheddar and similar, with the pronged end doubling as a serving pick. The soft cheese spreader has a spatula-shaped 8 cm blade for lifting and spreading creamy or fresh cheeses without tearing them. All three are from Berkel's Classic Line, made from X50 Cr Mo V15 stainless steel with a polished red ABS handle and three rivets.
The knives are dishwasher-safe, though hand-washing and immediate drying will keep the edge and finish in better condition for longer. The board is hand-wash only — warm water and mild soap, dried immediately and stored upright. Season it with food-grade vegetable or mineral oil twice before first use, allowing it to dry fully between applications. A monthly scrub with coarse salt and lemon juice keeps the surface clean without chemicals.

No. The acacia board must be hand-washed and dried immediately. A dishwasher will cause the wood to warp and crack. The knives are dishwasher-safe, though hand-washing extends their lifespan.
Oil it with food-grade vegetable or mineral oil before first use and allow it to dry fully between applications. Repeat twice before using it for the first time. After that, a monthly scrub with coarse salt and lemon juice keeps the surface clean and odour-free. Wash by hand with warm water and mild soap, dry immediately, and store upright rather than flat.
The hard and semi-hard knives will handle charcuterie, fruit and other table foods without issue. The spreader is designed for soft cheeses and dips. For general kitchen prep, the Classic Line chef's knife is the better choice.
