About Us

An independent UK specialist for Italian-made pasta and pizza tools, kitchen equipment and more.

Pasta Kitchen launched in 2016 with a straightforward aim: stock the tools that actually make a difference when you're cooking Italian food at home. We're a family-run business, and Italian cooking tools are genuinely what we know. We've been selling Marcato pasta machines and Eppicotispai tools the entire time, and every product we add to the range gets used and tested by our team at home before it goes on the site.

The range has grown a lot since then, but the approach hasn't. We choose products we believe in, from brands that have been making them properly for decades. Almost everything we sell is made in Italy. Marcato pasta machines are manufactured in Campodarsego, near Padova. Berkel slicers and knives are made in Italy, in the province of Varese. Cerutti Inox and Eppicotispai are Italian-made brands we've carried for years.

We're an authorised UK retailer for the brands we carry. Everything is supplied with UK-compatible plugs where applicable, VAT is included in the price, and there are no import duties or customs surprises on delivery.* You may be able to find some of these products cheaper from overseas sellers, but what you won't get is UK warranty support, correct specifications for the UK market, or anyone to call if something goes wrong.

Disclaimer

We’ve put together the product information to help make your shopping experience on pasta.kitchen as smooth as possible.
While we do our best to keep everything accurate and up to date, it’s always a good idea to check the packaging and labels before using a product, as ingredients and details can sometimes change.

The Volano B3 steps up from the B2 to a 300mm blade and a heavier, more capable machine built for regular slicing. Cutting capacity rises to 210mm in diameter or 270 x 210mm rectangular, and at 46kg it holds steady through long sessions. Berkel rates it for intensive home and restaurant use, so it suits anyone slicing cured meats and cheeses in volume. A matching floor stand is available separately.

Blade and slicing performance

The 300mm 100Cr6 chrome steel blade carries the same concave profile as the rest of the Volano range, gliding through cured meats and cheeses with little effort. Slice thickness adjusts continuously from 0 to 1.5mm on the gauge plate knob, so you can dial in anything from near-transparent prosciutto to thicker cuts. A built-in single-movement sharpener keeps the edge keen.

  • 300mm 100Cr6 chromed steel blade with professional concave profile
  • Slice thickness: 0 to 1.5mm, continuously adjustable
  • Circular cutting capacity: 210mm diameter
  • Rectangular cutting capacity: 270 x 210mm
  • Minimal residual product on the final slice
  • Built-in sharpener with single sharpening movement

Construction and stability

The body is cast aluminium alloy with adjustable rubber feet that level out on uneven surfaces. Gold decorative paintwork runs across the varnished panels, and the classic Berkel tower design houses the blade mechanism. The internally balanced flywheel stays put when the machine is at rest and drives the blade through a chain transmission, the robust system used across the larger Volano range.

  • Chain-driven transmission, as used across the Volano range
  • Aluminium alloy cast body with adjustable rubber feet
  • Internally balanced flywheel with squared profile
  • Gold decorative detailing on varnished parts
  • Chromed steel mechanical details throughout
  • Available in red or black

Food plate and product handling

The aluminium food plate detaches fully for cleaning, with a rubber underside insert that holds it steady during slicing. An assisted product press holder with steel spikes keeps the food locked against the plate throughout the cut. The plate uses a quick-advance and return mechanism combined with a millimetric adjustment knob for fine product positioning.

  • Detachable aluminium food plate with rubber base insert
  • Assisted aluminium product press holder with steel spikes
  • Quick-advance and return plate mechanism
  • Manual millimetric positioning knob

Slice deflector and receiving plate

The steel deflector attaches via a facilitated coupling and removes without tools for cleaning behind the blade. The technical polymer receiving plate is removable and dishwasher-safe. A rear collection area gathers waste trimmings so they stay off the worktop.

  • Steel deflector with facilitated coupling
  • Removable technical polymer receiving plate, dishwasher-safe
  • Rear waste collection area
  • Quick-release deflector block for blade-area cleaning

Safety

A full stainless steel blade ring guard covers the front of the blade, opening manually when in use. A fixed food-grade aluminium ring guard sits at the rear. The operating controls are black anodised aluminium, positioned to keep the operator's hand clear of the cutting edge.

  • Full stainless steel front blade ring guard with manual open/close
  • Fixed food-grade aluminium rear blade ring guard
  • Black anodised aluminium ergonomic controls

Stand sold separately

The B3 slices on any flat surface, and its matching Volano floor stand, shared with the Tribute and B114, is available separately when you want it at standing height.

What's in the box

Every Volano B3 ships with a Berkel #berkelcare cleaning kit, including a spray sanitiser and cloth designed for use on Berkel's chromed and varnished surfaces.

Why choose a flywheel slicer over an electric one?

Hand-powered slicing gives you direct control over speed and pressure, which is exactly what you want when cutting prosciutto or coppa paper-thin. The flywheel mechanism is beautifully simple, with fewer parts than a motor, easy to maintain and built to last decades. Berkel flywheels from the early 1900s are still in service today, and the B3 brings that engineering into a modern machine with current safety standards and a live parts supply.

How does the B3 compare with the B2?

The B3 moves up to a 300mm blade and 210mm cutting capacity, against the B2's 265mm blade and 176mm capacity, and at 46kg it has the mass to stay planted through heavy use. Berkel rates it for intensive home and restaurant work. If you want the same Berkel quality in a more compact machine for the worktop, the B2 is well worth a look.

What can the B3 slice, and what does the 100Cr6 blade spec mean?

The B3 accepts products up to 210mm in diameter or 270 x 210mm rectangular, covering most whole cured meats, large joints and hard cheeses. The blade is 100Cr6 chrome steel, a high-carbon alloy used in precision cutting tools that takes a fine edge, holds it through repeated use, and resists corrosion from food contact.

Is the B3 suitable for a busy kitchen or restaurant?

Yes. Berkel rates the B3 for intensive home and restaurant use. The 300mm blade, 210mm cutting capacity and 46kg build let it work through cured meats and cheeses across a full service, and the chain-driven flywheel is engineered to keep going for years.

Does the B3 come with a stand?

The B3 slices on any solid worktop as it comes. When you want it at standing height, a matching floor stand, shared with the Tribute and B114, is available separately.
