A double-blade mezzaluna for chopping herbs, garlic, onions, chillies, nuts and chocolate. The two 145mm curved stainless steel blades cut twice per stroke, producing finer results more quickly than a single blade version. Made in Italy by Eppicotispai, with beechwood handles.
The two blades sit parallel, each 145mm wide, curved to allow a natural rocking motion from the wrist. Both handles are turned beechwood, giving a secure grip on either side. The stainless steel blades are food-grade and hold their edge well with normal use and proper care.
The mezzaluna, meaning "half moon" in Italian, is the traditional tool for fine chopping in Italian kitchens. The double blade produces two cuts per stroke rather than one, which means finer results in less time. It is particularly useful when mincing large quantities of fresh herbs, garlic or chillies to a fine consistency. For smaller everyday tasks where a single cut per stroke is sufficient, the 145mm single blade is simpler to clean and maintain. For larger boards and bigger quantities, the 250mm single blade covers more ground per stroke.
Hand wash only. Do not soak or put in the dishwasher. Rinse quickly, dry immediately, and store in a dry place. Take care when washing around the double blade. Prolonged exposure to moisture will damage the beechwood handles over time.
