About Us

An independent UK specialist for Italian-made pasta and pizza tools, kitchen equipment and more.

Pasta Kitchen launched in 2016 with a straightforward aim: stock the tools that actually make a difference when you're cooking Italian food at home. We're a family-run business, and Italian cooking tools are genuinely what we know. We've been selling Marcato pasta machines and Eppicotispai tools the entire time, and every product we add to the range gets used and tested by our team at home before it goes on the site.

The range has grown a lot since then, but the approach hasn't. We choose products we believe in, from brands that have been making them properly for decades. Almost everything we sell is made in Italy. Marcato pasta machines are manufactured in Campodarsego, near Padova. Berkel slicers and knives are made in Italy, in the province of Varese. Cerutti Inox and Eppicotispai are Italian-made brands we've carried for years.

We're an authorised UK retailer for the brands we carry. Everything is supplied with UK-compatible plugs where applicable, VAT is included in the price, and there are no import duties or customs surprises on delivery.* You may be able to find some of these products cheaper from overseas sellers, but what you won't get is UK warranty support, correct specifications for the UK market, or anyone to call if something goes wrong.

The Volano Tribute is Berkel's homage to the Model B of the 1920s, known as the "Indianina". It pairs a 300mm 100Cr6 blade with a fully specified build: a stainless steel food plate and product press, an 11-position indexed gauge knob for repeatable thickness, and the flower flywheel that defines the classic Berkel look. It shares its cutting capacity with the B3 and steps the materials and detailing up throughout. A matching floor stand is available separately.

Blade and slicing performance

The 300mm 100Cr6 chrome steel blade carries the same concave profile as the rest of the Volano range, moving through cured meats and cheeses with ease. An 11-position indexed gauge knob sets thickness from 0 to 1.5mm and returns to a chosen setting exactly. A built-in two-movement sharpener keeps the edge keen with extra precision.

  • 300mm 100Cr6 chromed steel blade with professional concave profile
  • Slice thickness: 0 to 1.5mm across 11 indexed positions
  • Circular cutting capacity: 210mm diameter
  • Rectangular cutting capacity: 270 x 210mm
  • Minimal residual product on the final slice
  • Built-in sharpener with two independent sharpening movements

Construction and finish

The body is cast aluminium alloy with adjustable stainless steel and rubber feet that level out on uneven surfaces. The flower flywheel is internally balanced with a squared profile so it stays put at rest, and drives the blade through a chain transmission, the robust system used across the Volano range. Gold decorative paintwork runs across the varnished panels, with chromed steel detailing throughout and a screw-operated blade guard.

  • Chain-driven transmission, as used across the Volano range
  • Aluminium alloy cast body with adjustable stainless steel and rubber feet
  • Flower flywheel, internally balanced with squared profile
  • Gold decorative detailing on varnished parts
  • Chromed steel mechanical details throughout
  • Available in red or black

Food plate and product handling

The stainless steel food plate detaches fully for cleaning. An assisted stainless steel product press holder keeps the food locked against the plate throughout the cut. The plate uses a quick-advance and return mechanism combined with a millimetric adjustment knob for fine product positioning.

  • Detachable stainless steel food plate
  • Assisted stainless steel product press holder
  • Quick-advance and return plate mechanism
  • Manual millimetric positioning knob

Slice deflector and receiving plate

The wide steel deflector attaches via a facilitated coupling and removes without tools for cleaning behind the blade. The stainless steel receiving plate is removable and dishwasher-safe. A rear collection area gathers waste trimmings so they stay off the worktop.

  • Wide steel deflector with facilitated coupling
  • Removable stainless steel receiving plate, dishwasher-safe
  • Rear waste collection area
  • Quick-release deflector for blade-area cleaning

Safety

A full stainless steel blade ring guard covers the blade, opening via a screw mechanism when in use. The operating controls are black anodised aluminium, positioned to keep the operator's hand clear of the cutting edge.

  • Full stainless steel blade ring guard with screw opening mechanism
  • Black anodised aluminium ergonomic controls

Why choose a flywheel slicer over an electric one?

Hand-powered slicing gives you direct control over speed and pressure, ideal for cured meats and cheeses cut to the exact thickness you want. The flywheel mechanism is beautifully simple, with fewer parts than a motor, easy to maintain and built to last decades. Berkel flywheels from the early 1900s are still slicing today, and the Tribute carries that engineering in a machine finished to the standard of the original Model B.

What is the Volano Tribute inspired by?

The Tribute revives Berkel's Model B of the 1920s, nicknamed the "Indianina", one of the most admired machines in the company's history. It keeps the flower flywheel and classic tower silhouette of that era and builds them in modern materials, so you get a piece with real heritage that is made to be used every day.

How does the Tribute compare with the B3?

Both use a 300mm blade with the same cutting capacity. The Tribute adds stainless steel across the food plate and product press, an 11-position indexed gauge knob for repeatable thickness, a two-movement sharpener and the flower flywheel, so it is the one to choose when you want the fuller specification and the heritage design. The B3 is the more straightforward 300mm machine and an excellent slicer in its own right.

What can the Tribute slice, and what does the 100Cr6 blade spec mean?

The Tribute accepts products up to 210mm in diameter or 270 x 210mm rectangular, covering most whole cured meats, large joints and hard cheeses. The blade is 100Cr6 chrome steel, a high-carbon alloy used in precision cutting tools that takes a fine edge, holds it through repeated use, and resists corrosion from food contact.

Does the Tribute come with a stand?

The Tribute slices on any solid worktop as it comes. When you want it at standing height, a matching floor stand, shared with the B3 and B114, is available separately.
